About Kim

Welcome to Kim Irwin Art Therapy!

Kim Irwin is a Provisionally Registered Art Therapist practicing under the supervision of Kathy Platzman, Ph.D and Nancy Morales, ATR-BC. She provides art therapy through a DIR/Floortime-informed lens, supporting neurodivergent individuals and their families through creative, relationship-based, and sensory-informed interventions. Kim holds a Basic DIR/Floortime Certificate through ICDL and is certified in Adolescent Clay Field Therapy through the Sensorimotor Art Therapy Institute.

Kim's professional journey began in the creative arts. She earned her undergraduate degree in Fashion Design from Syracuse University and went on to work as a toy designer for Mattel. Her passion for design and education led her back to graduate school at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where she earned a master's degree and later taught fashion design at SCAD in Atlanta.

After becoming a mother of two, Kim's priorities shifted toward supporting the emotional well-being of children and families. This led her to pursue a Master of Arts in Art Therapy from PennWest University in Pennsylvania. Today, she combines her background in design, education, child development, and therapeutic practice to create engaging, individualized experiences that honor each person's unique strengths, interests, and developmental profile.

Kim has a special interest in working with neurodivergent individuals, their caregivers, and siblings of those with high support needs. She is passionate about helping clients build connection, resilience, self-understanding, and confidence through creativity, play, sensory experiences, and meaningful relationships.
